New stamp issued for 25th anniversary Taiwan-Tuvalu diplomatic relationships A single stamp in souvenir sheet format was released on September 19, 2004 by the Tuvalu Philatelic Bureau. It was released to commemorate the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relationships between Tuvalu and the Republic of China (Taiwan).
The single $5.00 stamp depicts two graphic clasped hands, one with the Tuvalu flag on the cuff, and the other with the Taiwan flag on the cuff. They are arced with a rainbow and flanked with a pair of doves. The background of the stamp is filled with a pattern representing a traditional Tuvaluan woven pandanus mat. The background of the sheet has a flag of each country and a typical lagoon scene of Tuvalu. The sheet was designed by the Marketing Department of the Tuvalu Philatelic Bureau, making it the third such issue locally produced over the last few years.
