New Souvenir Sheet Issued for Second Term Inauguration of Chen Shui-bian of Taiwan and Aid to Tuvalu A two stamp souvenir sheet was released on May 20, 2004 by the Tuvalu Philatelic Bureau. The date coincides with the inauguration of Chen Shui-bian for his second term in office as the President of the Republic of China (Taiwan). One of the $2 stamps on the sheet consists of a photograph Chen, while the other portrays the Prime Minister of Tuvalu, Saufatu Sopoanga. The background of the sheet consists of the new government building on Tuvalu, which was funded by Taiwan as foreign aid. The building is scheduled to open on July 6. Prime Minister Sopoanga attended the inauguration ceremonies in Taipei, and presented President Chen a souvenir folder containing the stamp issue.
