Miss Tuvalu Contests for Miss South Pacific Title

Miss Tuvalu, Akelita Marisa Pesega will represent the country, contesting for the title of Miss South Pacific 2009, during the pageant to be held in Suva, Fiji, November 21 to 28.

Akelita is an eighteen year old student at the University of the South Pacific campus on Funafuti. She plans on becoming a doctor and will be furthering here studies in biology and chemistry. "I love to study," she says.

She says her hobbies as dancing, sewing, netball, watching movies and learning other people's cultures.

Akelita has also entered the Miss Internet portion of the contest. This event is where anyone can vote for there favourite contestant online, sponsored by FijiLive.com.

“Preserving the Environment the Pacific Way” Is the theme for the week long event.

American Samoa, Cook Islands, Fiji, Niue, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tahiti, Tonga and Tuvalu have confirmed their participation and will have villages at the park.
