We are all Tuvalu Exhibition to be held in New Zealand

We are all Tuvaluans is an exhibition of the photography of award-winning environmental photographer Gary Braasch, who has captured climate change effects around the world, and the photography of the late Lomi Paeniu, a Tuvaluan, who reveals island life from an intimate indigenous perspective.

The event also features the screening of the documentary The Disappearing of Tuvalu: Trouble in Paradise, directed by Christopher Horner and Gillane Le Gallic. This 2005 documentary is being shown in New Zealand for the first time.

The title is an adaptation from the Tuvaluan saying “We are all Tuvaluans”, which is a call for Tuvaluans to work together for the betterment of their tiny, vulnerable country. An Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change report reinforces that all of us are, in an important sense, Tuvaluans, beset by the same global warming threats with which they live every day. The event is to raise awareness about this Polynesian island, and the need for a global approach to caring for the environment.
