TUVALU COMMUNICATIONS LINK CUT
MELBOURNE, Australia (Radio Australia, Dec. 15) – The tiny island nation of Tuvalu has been without any telecommunications link with the outside world for two weeks.
The Pacific island's deputy high commissioner to Fiji, Kakee Kaitu, says that an equipment malfunction at Telecom Tuvalu has cut off all communications between Tuvalu and the rest of the world.
Mr Kaitu says the only way residents have been communicating with people in other countries is by email.
He says parts are due to arrive from Fiji later in the day and hopes the problem will be fixed by Friday.
