Political Situation in Tuvalu Remains Unclear

The political situation in Tuvalu is unclear, after a court authorised a sitting of parliament, sought by the Opposition.
The court sat last week to rule on Prime Minister Safatu Sapoanga's refusal to recall parliament, after losing majority support.
The court said it was contrary to the spirit of the constitution for a Prime Minister to try to remain in power by delaying the recall of parliament.
Mr Sapoanga has left Tuvalu for the Pacific Island Forum leaders meeting in Auckland and has not made a decision on a sitting.
