TUVALU WELCOMES NEW MANAGER OF ITS "DOT-TV" SUFFIX
FUNAFUTI, Tuvalu (January 8, 2002 * Radio Australia)---The Tuvalu government has welcomed the purchase of its Internet domain name suffix -- ".tv" -- by the Internet registry giant VeriSign. In 1998, Tuvalu sold the management rights of its suffix to a Californian company, dot-TV Corporation. Now, dot-TV Corporation has resold the management rights to VeriSign for US$ 45 million. Tuvalu Prime Minister Koloa Talake welcomed the move, describing VeriSign as a respected company and corporate citizen.
