TUVALU TO BUY SHARES IN AIR FIJI

SUVA, Fiji Islands (January 9, 2001 Fijilive)---The government of Tuvalu, with assistance from the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat, is currently negotiating to buy shares in Air Fiji.

Tuvalu's High Commissioner to Fiji, Anale Sofoaga, said his government is interested in acquiring the shares to ensure the continuity of flights to Tuvalu.

Air Fiji currently serves Tuvalu's capital, Funafuti, with three times a week service (Monday, Thursday and Saturday) from Suva (Nausori)
