Fatato

This islet (or motu), is uninhabited.

In 2003, Fatato was selected by the APN (Asia Pacific Network) to implement a systematic coastal monitoring program which could be used to assess the future impact of global change on atoll coastlines.

It was necessary to select a site on an uninhabited atoll island which was away from human impact or previous modification to its coastline. Fatato met this criteria.
